• Blanco, Texas — October 14, 2025.
Republican Mayor of Blanco City, Texas, Mike Arnold, has criticized Nigeria for condemning U.S. comments on the country’s security challenges while still seeking financial assistance from Washington.

Speaking on Monday, Arnold described Nigeria’s position as “contradictory and hypocritical,” accusing the West African nation of rejecting foreign scrutiny but welcoming foreign aid.

You don’t want America to speak on your terrorism issues, but you want our money,” Arnold reportedly said. “If a nation insists it can handle its problems alone, then it should also fund those solutions alone.”

The mayor’s remarks follow Nigeria’s recent statement expressing displeasure over U.S. comments on rising insecurity and terrorist activities across the northern region. Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs had earlier cautioned against what it described as “interference” in its internal affairs.

Arnold’s comments have sparked mixed reactions online, with some Americans supporting his stance on aid accountability, while others argued that such remarks could strain diplomatic relations between the two nations.

  • A young Nigerian mechanic has been left devastated after a woman he sponsored through university for five years publicly rejected his marriage proposal.

Eyewitnesses said the man, who had sacrificed his earnings to pay her fees and rent, knelt to propose but was told to “stop embarrassing her.” The lady insisted that financial sponsorship did not guarantee marriage.

Reports suggest the man spent nearly ₦20 million over the years to ensure she graduated. His hopes of building a future with her were dashed in public view.

    Public Reaction:
The incident has sparked debate on social media about love, sacrifice, and expectations in relationships. Many sympathized with the man, while others argued that sponsorship should not be tied to marital obligation.

    Moral Lesson:
Some netizens noted that investing such an amount in business — for instance, purchasing tricycles (“keke”) worth about ₦4 million each — could have yielded him financial security and peace of mind.

  • A bold statement from Nigerian realtor and social commentator, Oge Nsimah, has ignited heated conversations on social media — especially among the Christian community.According to Nsimah, the marriage choices of high-profile gospel artists like Moses Bliss, Peterson, Jeffrey/Godfrey, and Theophilus reveal a hard reality: men — even those deep in ministry — look beyond spirituality when choosing a life partner.

“These gospel artists didn’t marry the sisters who trek to fellowship, fast for 40 days, and speak in tongues for hours,” Nsimah stated. “They went for women who could offer stability, citizenship, and opportunity.”

Citing examples, she pointed out that these artists’ wives are often financially successful, well-educated, and globally connected — from UK-based lawyers to American realtors and wealthy fashion designers.

    Her controversial take?

“If spirituality is all you bring to the table, sister, I pity you. Men marry women who bring real-life value — not just tongues and fasting.”

While clarifying she is a strong advocate for women’s financial independence, Nsimah stressed that many “church sisters” from poor backgrounds remain trapped in poverty because they settle for less and fail to think strategically about marriage.

  • The United States has approved a potential $346 million sale of bombs, rockets, and advanced ammunition to Nigeria, in what could become one of the country’s most significant defence procurements in recent years.

In a statement on Wednesday, the US Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) confirmed that Nigeria requested an extensive package, including 1,002 MK-82 general-purpose 500lb bombs, 1,002 MXU-650 Air Foil Groups (AFGs), and 5,000 Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System II rockets equipped with high-explosive warheads and MK66-4 rocket motors.

The proposed deal also covers FMU-139 joint programmable fuzes, bomb components, impulse cartridges, high-explosive and practice rockets, integration support, test equipment, and technical, engineering, and logistics assistance from both the US government and contractors.

According to the DSCA, the primary contractors will be Lockheed Martin, RTX Missiles and Defense, and BAE Systems — defence giants known for cutting-edge military technology. Lockheed Martin, for instance, is behind the F-35 Lightning II fighter jet, C-130 Hercules transport aircraft, and several missile defence systems.

While the sale has been approved by the US State Department, it is not yet final. The DSCA stressed that the transaction aims to strengthen Nigeria’s ability to counter security threats and improve regional stability.

If completed, the deal would represent a significant boost to Nigeria’s airstrike and precision-attack capabilities at a time when the country faces escalating security challenges.
